Every wine lover has a special “discretionary” budget that’s saved for absolutely bonkers savings. For Pinot hounds, this is that day! Jenner is a side project from the Lost Canyon / Fritz folks – who specializes in muscular, energetic Pinot that detonates on the palate with a flashy array of summer-sweetened cherries and berries. The label says Sonoma Coast but sneaks in plenty of Russian River spice - and this baby sprinkles vanilla, cinnamon and cola liberally. Super legit Pinot at a bargain price!
About the wine
Lovers of authentic, palate-blasting Sonoma Pinot are about to get an unexpected present. The high-impact and low-cost Pinots from Lost Canyon are exciting, electric - even exuberant examples of the vibrant and mouth-coating fruit flavors possible in the Russian River subzone of the Sonoma Coast appellation. Like Sonoma Coast heavyweights like Fort Ross, Littorai, Hirsch and Failla, Lost Canyon captures the natural energy of the appellation, coaxing flavors of wild cherry jam, cinnamon, cola and even blueberry flavors out of this fantastic zone. Lost Canyon is a small label that is the definition of cherry-picker, and they don’t bother with anything short of the most distinctive Pinot sites. One taste and you know this is the good stuff, as the fruit is evenly balanced between saturated blue and black berries as well as zesty cherry and citrus. All throughout, the palate sings with spice and the acid is just right. Mouthwatering and totally hedonistic stuff that really shows off Sonoma’s strengths.

About the winery
Lost Canyon is one of Sonoma’s most ardent proponents of single vineyard wine. They’re downright maniacal about hyper-clean winemaking and exacting decisions in the vineyard and the barrel room. Yet what sets them apart from the pack is their strong aversion to blending. They are terroir hounds and they believe that Russian River will emerge as a competitor to Burgundy - with the added thump of great fruit to augment the single-vineyard specifics. Judging from their critical acclaim, they’re well on their way – having earned 92-95pts from Wine Enthusiast nine times! Ironically, Lost Canyon can be found – at the Fritz Underground tasting room in Santa Rosa, where one can enjoy the no-fuss atmosphere and the high-quality wines.

Brad’s careful focus and premier viticulture practices create stunning individual wines.

“The quality of 2014 Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley is simply incredible. Out of the gates, Jenner displays the ripe and seductive aromatics of delicious incoming Pinot Noir. It's tastes like a deep luscious bowl of cherry compote, woodsy cinnamon spice, and graham cracker crumbs! Easily on par with $30-$50 bottles of RRV wines. The winery sources from across their RRV and Coastal vineyards and simply crushed it with this insane value blend. The kind of wine that could handle southern-styled bbq done salmon. Tons of fruit, acidity, and pure Pinot pleasure.”
